In an ironic
turn of events, the AI chatbot on Donald Trump's social platform was asked who
the most popular U.S. president of this century is—and it chose Barack Obama.
The tool, named Truth Search and powered by Perplexity, gave a measured
response: George W. Bush holds the highest single-month approval (around 90%
after 9/11), but Obama maintains the strongest overall favorability
post-presidency.
This
response appears to contradict Trump’s own rhetoric and expectations. The
chatbot also challenged some of his claims—claiming, for instance, that newly
imposed tariffs function as a tax on American citizens and stating that there
was no evidence of election theft in 2020. It even flagged his family’s crypto
investments as ethically questionable.
Online reactions
were swift and amused. One user joked, “We need more chatbots like that,” while
another quipped, “Someone’s getting fired.” The AI’s unexpected honesty is
definitely a twist in the narrative.
