U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to meet on August 15, 2025, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. The military base was chosen for its strategic position, high-level security, and restricted access, located near the Russian border across the Bering Strait.
Before the
official announcement, Trump mentioned in a speech that he was “going to
Russia,” which triggered criticism on social media. The White House later
clarified that the meeting will take place in Alaska, though a visit to Russia
in the future remains possible.
Meanwhile,
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that any peace talks must
include Ukraine. He stressed that without Ukrainian participation, there can be
no genuine progress toward ending the war.
