has obtained Italian citizenship via his maternal grandmother, who originally
came from the Italian town of Candida in Campania. He revealed this while
attending a Republic Day event, jokingly quoting his grandmother’s words to
him: “You have the brain of a hamster!”
In a recent
podcast conversation with Sarah Silverman, Kimmel explained that his decision
stemmed from uncertainty about the political landscape at home, particularly
after Donald Trump’s re-election. He said the situation feels “as bad as you
thought—and probably worse.”
