Caroline
Darian, the daughter of victim Gisèle Pelicot, revealed a painful moment from
her father's trial, explaining why she and her mother are no longer in contact.
During a courthouse encounter, she says her mother looked at her and quietly
said six words that stunned her: “Stop making a spectacle of yourself.”
This remark
came amid one of the most horrifying sexual abuse cases in France, where Gisèle
had been sedated and assaulted by her husband, Dominique Pelicot, often filmed
and shared with strangers. The trial not only brought her struggles into the
spotlight but also exposed the emotional fallout for her children. Caroline
described feeling abandoned when her mother let go of her hand in court. She
recounts having supported Gisèle for years, even when her mother wouldn’t
listen to her concerns about Dominique. She said she will never forgive that
moment—when she needed her mother most, she felt utterly alone.
