Actor and
comedian Pete Davidson has revealed that a joke made by his former fiancée
Ariana Grande about his private life had a significant impact on both his life
and career.
The remark
came in 2018 during their short-lived engagement, when Grande jokingly
commented on his body in response to a fan’s question, leading to the phrase
“Big D Energy” going viral.
In a recent
interview, Davidson admitted that the comment left him feeling embarrassed, as
people focused more on that joke than on his work. “Nobody was talking about
what I was doing. Instead, it was always, ‘Oh, that’s the guy.’ It was really
hurtful,” he explained.
He went on
to say that while jokes can be funny in the moment, it becomes mentally
exhausting when the entire world focuses on such a personal matter. Davidson
also pointed out that if such a comment had been made about a woman, it would
likely have sparked widespread criticism and debate.
